A FREE Houston forum to promote social activities and to share information with Jewish Families with Special Needs Children, Young Adults and their siblings.

(The site is moderated - when requesting to join, please specify who you are and what your interest is in joining the group.)

Some of the many programs offered in our community include:

Friendship Circle - part of Chabad (OPEN to all Jewish families irrespective or your affiliation, degree of observance or lack thereof. Most of the volunteers are from the general Houston Jewish Community.)

Includes weekly buddies at home program, holiday events, monthly programs, monthly bowling with buddies and family Shabbatons plus the annual Friendship Circle walk.

Nite Owls - at the ER JCC for young adults *** ( Club Haver - Social group for younger ages - suspended due to lack of attendance).

TOPSoccer & Modified Gymnastics - Super Stars at the ER JCC

Sunday school classes:

(1) Kesher program (BJE) open to all families with no affiliation required. 2014/2015 Class is being hosted at Beth Yeshurun.

Class Aleph - children up to age 12 (this age group NEEDS more participants)

Class Bet - Confirmation Class - for those over 13 years of age (active)

(2) Kulum Program for Emanu El members (now mostly absorbed into regular classes)

Yad B'Yad at Robert M. Beren (suspended)

STARS (located at BAC – part of the JCC) Preschool Intervention Program was designed to enable preschool children, with language, social pragmatic and sensory motor challenges, to attain skills required for transition into traditional school settings. Up to age 5

JFS Disabilities Services (formally known as Alexander Institute - now a department within Jewish Family Services) - offers support in some areas

Informal bowling - (started and arranged by HJSN) now "Bowling Buddies" - see Friendship Circle information
